Myath Thura explains why the posts on the blogger's Burmese blog always has a translation in English. “Whether you are writing a web site, or writing a Blog, it is not very Google friendly to write it in Myanmar (Burmese). Google doesn't understand Myanmar, and doesn't index web pages in Myanmar. So, it is always a good idea to write every article in both Myanmar and English.”

Oh, yes ok, let’s all forget our languages. To be a real Global Voice, one must speak English… Why don’t you learn other languages, native English speakers? It’s better to teach Google to speak any language than to tell people that their languages are useless.

Be a Global Voice, write in as many languages as you can! The only English world is not my world. Don’t let it to be yours.

I si fas el pas i escrius en angls, tampoc tens cap garantia. […]

You can use the language options of the http protocol to serve a small english translation if a server explicitly request “english”. Or cou can use English in the separate information you abstract specially for google. Or in the abstract of your RSS feed. There are A LOT of solutions.

[…] It does worry me a lot, however, to find in Global Voices the recommendation to write in English to be Google friendly … And that there is not even a single comment against it! And it’s that - it is necessary to say it - it worries me that the main node of reception in the anglophone blogosphere has a vision of the world so cool and hungry for exoticism. […]
