Interesting to read about who is and isn’t “distorted”.
The reality is another story. One that is either completely different (or at the very least) not so clear cut.
“Empty Russophilic slogans” as oppposed to freedom loving predominately Galician inspired views is “distorted”.
Others have taken notice. Not too long ago, a West Ukrainian nationalist wrote of wanting Western Ukraine to breakaway from the rest of Ukraine. His realization of the obvious. You want Ukraine as one, as in its Communist drawn boundaries?
THEN RESPECT RUSSOCENTRIC SENTIMENT IN UKRAINE!
This sort of thing will become standard orthodoxy as Ukraine establishes itself as a truly independent nation, albeit with a large minority of Russophilic sentiment. The relationship between the two states is slowly but surely being brought to a more equal playing field after centuries of psuedo-colonial rule from Moscow, and it will not happen overnight. Even now there remains a huge amount of chauvinism underpinning Russian policy towards Ukraine, but for evidence of a shift look no further than the deafening silence coming from the Kremlin throughout the past month of much-hyped political crisis. Putin came down to Kyiv twice in 2004 to push the envelope on live Ukrainian national TV, but this time there was nothing. A sure indication that times are indeed changing.
