Siasa Duni reviews Idols Africa: “If Idols Africa won’t bring us the “next big thing” it promises, then it has succeeded beyond doubt in riskily exposing us to Africa’s deadly talent, in addition to the biggest bunch of weirdos in African television history since Ofunneka drunkenly shagged Richard’s leg on that Saturday afternoon in BBA2.”

I don’t think that bringing idol is a good thing for Africa because rather than celebrating and exploring and exploiting the diverse and idiosyncratic cultural expressions all across the continent, it in stead attempts to pigeonhole us into one Westernized form.
THE JUDGES:
What criteria was used to pick up the judges? What is fact;
The lady shows maturity and professionalism , and has constructive critisisms.i like the way she is handling young contestants.( a negative leaves a scar in young mind, remember!).A very big tick! she could be a judge at world stage.
The bald head boy, its pathetic in his judgement.Too much of unsenseless immaturity.I would blame, the group behind his selection to be on the panel.
The big gentleman is at least average, and unstable.I would give him the benefit of the doubt in having on a panel in a competitive idol search.
The contestants:i would give the lowest grade to the rejected a grade C.Why because of the seed or should i say the inner eye ( their belief). iam saying so because if i can become a producer, a new music sect unknown can be born.
Lastly: MY BIG OPNION: We are in africa and of which collectively,english seem not to be common language-may be, and so the search for best african idol i believe should have been a big allowance for african songs.we are not copy cats to western idols, COMMON!!! Where is our identification????
