Ecuador: Cousin Murdered in Historic Quito

Rudd-o [ES] is saddened by the murder of his cousin in the historic center of Quito. He is also angry that the much-lauded closed circuit cameras failed to capture the killer's image.

Actually, apparently the cameras *did* capture the crime (what is unclear as of now is if the image actually allows the killer to be distinguished). But the cameras were supposed to be part of a rapid response program which, as you can imagine, failed miserably.

Siento mucho lo occurido, lo cierto es que nada devolvera la vida a su primo y la felicidad a su familia.

Concuerdo con todo lo que dice y propone, aqui le adjunto el site del actual Presidente, quien no tiene parte ni suerte de la corruptcion del presunto sistema de “in-seguridad” ajo de aguila que no sirvio para alertar a los gendarmenes de turno. El Presidente Correa heredo de los corruptos de turno todo lo que existe a fines de Enero del corriente y esta haciendo lo humanamente posible por “limpiar a Correasos a los enemigos del pueblo que sufre en el pais.”

Escriba a NFO@CORREA.COM y confiemos en que se haga justicia para quien no debe morir en la impunidad, le deseo “suerte” navegando en las infestadas aguas de piranas, barracudas y tiburones que forman parte de la disque fuerzas protectoras de la seguridad al ciudadano.

Very sad. When I was in that part of Quito, walking around alone and taking pictures of the mysterious and beautiful narrow streets, fairly empty, with layered street names, the new posted over old on the corner system, I remember vividly how shopkeepers would scold me and warn me for walking around alone. They were so adamant and it was so unsolicited. It didn’t look dangerous, but there was one point where some guy started following me and I crossed the street a couple of times then caught a cab and went back to the new city where I was staying and thought nothing more of it. The old city is such a pretty city, how I loved walking up its high hills and its narrow twisting streets and marveling at its old walls and grilles and decor so old against the luminous green mountains. But the better stuff to buy and the better cafes and nightlife and people to meet were in the new city - where there was less crime.
