As if the media circus surrounding her wasn't enough, the latest news is that Britney Spears will be considering converting to Islam in order to marry her Pakistan-born paparazzo boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib. The Middle East and North African bloggers could hardly contain themselves.
Alarabiya.net reported the story on Sunday and has since received nearly 100 comments. One reader was concerned:
I hope she finds true Islam out of a sincere calling. It would correct her life that's for sure. But to convert just to marry a man that is only Muslim by name isn't what Islam needs. Either way I wish her the best and welcome her to Islam.
Another put it bluntly:

While only time will tell if this story is true, I have to agree with Egyptian Chronicles
- we tend to forget that Britney is human like the rest of us. I don't know if this is a sincere choice for her, but if so, more power to her for figuring out what she wants. One can only hope that she isn't being taken for a ride.

Nothing she does surprises me at this point.
As i m a Pakistani guy, i think we people are very sincere to our life partners and thats what exactly britney recognized.
It seems like Kabbalah made her feel better for a while. Islam might do the same. She is clearly searching for answers, but is in no place to make big decisions, particularly not with the world watching.
While the Muslim world (and the rest of us) need all the strong, smart, powerful, confident women we can get, battered Britney is not the one for this job– at least right now.
Don’t know much about A. Ghalib, and his intentions, but if she really does convert, Muslims should accept her. End of story.
It’s easy to cionvert to Islam, but could she adopt Islamic traditions and rituals ?

A Christian or a Jewish woman doesn’t have to convert to marry a Moslem. She can retain and practice her faith freely after marriage to a Moslem. A Moslem man can marry a woman who is a follower of Abraham’s religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

I think this is all just a hoax to work people up. He boyfriend has pictures of him with crosses. Even if Britney does convert if she’s only doing it to get married to this man then it’s not for the right reasons. I really do pray the best for her but at this point I don’t know what to believe.

Owned by Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Britney’s label is in negotiations to sign its first act.

Britney’s label is in negotiations with a New York based hard rock band called MEAN VENUS.
Britney allegedly encountered MEAN VENUS mid-set some months ago at NJ’s legendary Stone Pony

and offered the MEAN VENUS boys a deal on the spot.

I think the west has terribly defaced Islam to such a great extent that whenever we hear Islam anywhere we start abusing it and condemn muslims from the world society. I think it is grossly unjust. We muslims respect Jesus and Moses as much as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and if we don’t then its a terrible sin. I am from Pakistan and my country is shown to the world as the most backward and militant nation on the face of this earth. I request each one of you to just visit it once and be the judge yourself; your misconceptions will be wiped away. We are educated and a civilised nation. My sis-in-law happens to be an American living in karachi, we love her and she loves us too. She hasnt changed herself at all in becoming a Pakistani. You will find Women in Karachi and from other 13 metros of Pakistan, as liberated as any woman living elsewhere in the western country. And we are progressive and peace loving people.
And as for Britney’s decision for converting to Islam; let it be her prerogative. You American people are said to be liberals and respecting other peoples mind. My plea to you all is don’t disgrace a woman, as she is a daughter and a sister to someone. Please don’t scandalise her.
And lastly, Britney it would indeed be an honour to have you in our country. We will honour you so much that America never dared thought of giving you.
With the help of GOd, anything is possible. Dont doubt her.
